Fine Art From the Forest
Welcome to MJWoodworks. Items displayed in this site are handmade by me in my home workshop. Bowls, platters and ornaments are made as suitable wood becomes available. Pens, pencils and letter openers are made to order. Furniture is as inspiration provides. A man's gotta have a hobby.
You can use the menu bar or click on pictures to navigate this site. Not all pictures will lead you somewhere in which case you will fall through to the about us page.
Most of of the photos you see on the following pages were cropped to size some years ago. This is a reflection of the technology of that time. All the photos in here have been set to a common width of either 300 or 400 pixels. The varying height is due to the afore mentioned cropping. This is after all a school project. For the real thing we would start with a completely new set of turnings and a completely new set of photos.
Updates: Winter 2017 - Added my Cruising Blog from Word Press. Got to stay in practice somehow. I also added a salt and Pepper Mill Gallery. Not much in it for the moment.
Fall 2016 - got my unit for PE in the bag in August. Got my diploma November 10. Deciding whether or not to take up Computer Science at WWU. Not.
Spring 2016. I'm doing my MIT249 Javascript and MIT280 Digital Portfolio on this sight. The Javascript consists of some pretty simple exercises. The Portfolio is using the new to me Carousel from bootstrap css style to display some of my photos.
Winter quarter 2016 - I made templates from the Pens Popup Pages and used them to add popups to the bowls and ornaments pages. Easier said then done. I also used the templates to to redo the pen pages at the same time so for my first pass I actually rewrote 9 of the 12 pages. For the second pass I created a template for the index and about us pages which made them a little more size responsive. I also rewrote the main gallery page and turned off the text above each picture when the screen is less than 400 pixels just to show I know how. Last but not least the background picture is gone.
Winter quarter 2015 - I tried to unify the look of the top of each page. The title MJWoodWorks appears against a matching dark background. The menu bars are now in black to help them standout. The gallery page menu top bar matches the home and about us menu bars with a secondary bar to navigate to the sub-gallery pages. I've added three pages of pens with popups. The ornaments, plates, and bowl pages remain unchanged.
