MJWoodWorks

Welcome to our about us page where you will find out interesting things about MJWoodWorks, such as the M in MJ is Michael (me) and the J is my wife Jacqueline. She doesn't participate in any of the wood working but after forty plus years of marraige I'm used to seeing her just about everywhere else. We are originally from Los Angeles (I was born there) and first came northwest during the 1984 Olympic games. We discovered Whidbey Island a couple of years later and bought a small piece of it shortly thereafter.

I started working in wood in earnest after I was outsourced in 1998. I was able to make a small living doing restoration work in the marina where I kept my boat. I saw a turning demonstration at a wood shop and it was love at first site. If you just have to know I created the turnings seen on these page roughly ten years ago. The bulk of them sold in small art shops on the island. I still have a few bowls on permanent display at home and a handful of ornaments we drag out of storage every Christmas. I haven't made anything in a while due to taking several years off to clear the land and build our home. Afterwards I had to recover from couple of health issues. At the moment I'm a fulltime student.
